A Message From Amanda Porter

Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the only youth serving organizations that does not charge the families, Littles or Bigs who benefit from the program. Now, more than ever, I need you to partner with me to ignite the potential of young people through one on one mentoring. I have been so inspired with what I have seen and struck by the commitment of our staff and our Bigs who are dedicated to ensuring that each of our Littles has a dedicated adult in their corner. I have worked my entire life in youth serving and I can say this mission and funds raised are 100% for the youth. $0.86 of every dollar raised goes directly to support the youth in our community. AMAZING!!

Active in Virginia since 1962, Big Brothers Big Sisters creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. BBBS serves youths ages 6 to 18 by matching youth (Littles) with caring, consistent adult mentors (Bigs). Bigs and Littles meet weekly and work towards goals that help the Little build social skills, increase academic achievement, and create healthy lifestyles. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides mentors throughout Greater Richmond, Tri-Cities, Hampton Roads and the Greater Virginia Peninsula.
